Blue skies over Bluewater River

11Certificate III in Conservation and Land participants in North Queensland have had their work cut out for them completing assessment tasks over Summer.  BCA National is working in partnership with Bluewater Catchment Landcare Inc (BCLI), in a landmark East-Coast training program.

BCLI participation means practical components of the course have been held on the banks of the Bluewater River- State Forest and Upper Catchment Region.  This is a remarkable opportunity, and certainly not the average training room, with native plants, grasses and wildlife all used in training.  The area was flooded in recent heavy rain, postponing some sessions but not dampening spirits.

4Trainer Eleesa Collis has done a remarkable job making training as hands-on as possible, with participants encouraged to test their new skills at every opportunity .  They were even able to take part in civic duties, undertaking brushcutting practical lessons with the assistance of Townsville Local Council.

The course has run with the assistance of Breakthru Employment Aitkenvale. Wendy, Gary and the team have been immensely supportive in encouraging these jobseekers to gain skills for employment.
