Congratulations to the 2009 Certificate III in School Support Services (Classroom Assistant) group who recently graduated on the 28th of July with BCA National Training Group and CEO Sydney. You have come such a long way in the past year. Ten graduates accepted their certificates on a rainy afternoon though the feeling inside was filled with warmth and excitement.
Cindy Miller was awarded “Outstanding Student” of the group and contributed to the graduation by speaking on behalf of her group and their achievements. Thank you to all speakers involved including Peter Wester of the Catholic Education Office Sydney, Bruce Callaghan and Clare Boland of BCA National Training Group and Cindy Miller. The close bond shared by the trainer, Clare Boland and all students was evident at this special occasion. Participants studied many topics in School Support, including working with children with special needs, interacting effectively with children and identifying and responding to risk of harm.
As Cindy mentioned “I think the days of support staff only doing photocopying or cutting and pasting, although helpful to teachers, is over. Support staff can never claim to have the knowledge of teachers but we can certainly contribute to the successful running of a classroom. Sometimes we may be the only person privy to important information regarding a student as we have gained their confidence whilst working one on one with them.” We would like to thank CEO Sydney for their continuing support of professional development for their staff. Congratulations and well done graduates!!
